Stamping Dragon Sunday

At Stamping Dragon, we've decided to do something I think is kind of cool! Every DT member has their own day to post, so the blog hop was a special occasion where we all posted on the same day but typically now, you'll see a post from a different member every day of the week. Here on our own blogs and on our new FaceBook page!
So, my day is Sunday - as which I've deemed it Stamping Dragon Sunday!

For my card today I went back to an image I love, but tends to lend itself more towards Fall. So, I dressed it up for Spring.

Here's the image which you can find in the Stamping Dragon Designs Store.

And here is how I used her:

I went for a more CAS look with a bit of flourish from the paper and paper flowers.

For this I used:
The image is Penny's Apples from the SDD Store - Direct Link
She is colored with Copics:
Skin/Scales - G05, G09, G29
Wings/Horns - V12, V15, V17
Belly/Ears - Y13, Y15, Y35, Y38
Bow - RV02, RV06, RV09
Apples - R22, R24, R29
Leaf - YG06, YG09
Bucket Handle - N6, N8
Bucket - E33, E25, E39, E79
The papers - I think - are from DCWV.
The Flowers are Recollections.
Adhesives - Glue Dots Minis, 1/8" foam tape.

All Racing Blog Hop

Welcome to the All Racing Blog Hop! Today we are celebrating the start of the 2013 Nascar Season and the Daytona 500. I love racing in any form and I found some wonderful crafty ladies who share that love with me. We have all created a project having something to do with any form of racing.

If you have raced over from Michele's blog you are in the right way.

If you just happened upon this post, race over to Carla's Blog to start from the beginning.

Our wonderful sponsor for this hop is, Nikki over at http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/

She has graciously offered a $25.00 gift certificate to her store. To be eligible to win this you must leave a comment on all the blog posts.

It was hard to decide what I wanted to make for this hop. I actually love racing, were a Formula 1 family. :)
In the end my project came from the fact that I needed a birthday card for a little boy who loves racing.

The paper I used is from the new DCWV birthday stack, I think it kind of looks like tire tracks.
The stamp is CTMH, again it kind of reminded me of a tire, lol, inked with Memento Tuxedo Black.
The punch is EK Success photo labels.
The stickers are The Paper Studio La Petites.

Thanks for racing by make sure you speed over to Connie's Blog.

A Little Bit Grumpy

My printer can't handle the paper I like to use with my digis so I take it to Office Max and they print it for me. Well, I don't like to waste the .03 it costs me to print, lol, so I always reasonably fill up the paper. Consequently I have a drawer full of loose printed stamps that I haven't used.
Last night I decided to dig through the drawer and I came across what is probably my absolute favorite digi from The Paper Shelter.

For this I used:
The image is A Little Bit Grumpy from The Paper Shelter.
She is colored with Copics (I'm trying to remember to keep up with what markers I use. I like to see which ones you all use, and I would like to keep up with it for my own use!) :)
Hair: E31, E33, E39, E79
Dress: BG10, BG23, BG78, YG06, YG09
Sleeves/Socks: V04, V20, V17, V25, C1
Wings: BV00, V20
Skin: E00, YR000, E02
The patterned papers are DCWV from the Heirloom stack.
They are inked with Vintage Photo and Dusty Concord Distress Inks.
The die is Spellbinders Labels 20.
The Ribbon is 3 Girl Jam.
The flowers are Recollections.
The pearls are from an Etsy store called SammyBoutique.
I'm entering this in:

Wishing You a "Pot" of Love

This is perfect to give my mom next year. There really isn't much she enjoys more than digging in the dirt and watching her flowers grow!

For this I used:
The image is Wryn-grow a little love from Tiddly Inks.
She is colored with Copics.
The sentiment is also Tiddly Inks, inked with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.

The paper flowers are Recollections.

Pretty in Pink!

It occurred to me that in all the valentines I have made, I really hadn't made just a sickly sweet pink one yet. So here it is.

For this I used:
The image is Wryn-close to my heart from Tiddly Inks.
She is colored with Copics.
The sentiment is from The Paper Shelter.
The edges of all the papers are inked with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.
The patterned papers are from 2 K&Company valentines stacks.
The ribbon is 5/8" from Hobby Lobby.
The pearls are pearl borders from Hobby Lobby.

I'm entering this in:
Tiddly Inks - Love is in the Air
2 Sisters Challenge - Love and/or Valentines
Little Scrap Pieces - Be My Valentine
Fashionista - Valentines

A Clockwork Heart...

I thought it might be fun to try a more Steampunk-ish valentine theme. Now my steampunk style is a bit more soft and not as thorough, like I guess I prefer in my own work to just have a few touches and elements. Also I printed everything a little too big and I wanted to keep the card a relatively normal size. :)

For this I used:
The images are Aiden and I think Priscilla(from the Steampunk Beauties pack) from Tiddly Inks.
They are colored with Copics.
The sentiment is also Tiddly Inks from the Steampunk Sentiments pack.
It is inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
The gears and buttons are Tim Holtz Ideology.
The patterned paper is K&Company valentines stack that has been inked first with Dusty Concord and then with Vintage Photo.

I'm entering this in:
Tiddly Inks - Love is in the Air
2 Sisters Challenge - Love and/or Valentines
Little Scrap Pieces - Be My Valentine

Anything Goes Challenge - Vintage/Shabby Chic

What Can My Mind Design Monday - My Cricut Craft Room

Today at My Cricut Craft Room the theme is Patriotic. Well, this theme is a little hard for me because I'm from Texas, and frankly we blow things out proportion, probably because the state is so big. So most of my patriotism is centered around the state, you know it used to be a country right. And, did you know that Six Flags is called that because if you didn't know the original theme park is in Arlington, Texas and throughout the history of Texas there have been 6 flags to fly over the area. In order the 6 flags are:

Spain

France

Mexico

Republic of Texas

Confederacy

United States (28th star)

Anyway, so on to my project

For this I used:

The image cut at 3.25" and phrase cut at 1.25" are from the County Fair cartridge (to be honest I bought it because it had the Texas flag shaped into the state).
The papers are all Recollections.
The burlap ribbon is from Close to My Heart.
Adhesives - Zig 2 Way pen, foam squares.

Now head on over to My Cricut Craft Room and see what my DT Sisters have been up too!!

New Stamping Dragon Challenge!

So this week at Stamping Dragon Challenge it's a little bit different. Were doing a Blog Hop! Except that we all used the same image, so you get to see a bunch of different inspiration for that image!

Here's my project:

For this I used:
Colored with Copics:
Rupert's Blues: B05, B24, B69; Jiggy's Aquas: BG15, BG18, BG23; Penny's Pinks: RV02, RV06, RV09
Scales/Skin: G02, G05, G09, G29, YG09
Bellies/Ears: Y15, Y17, Y35, Y38
Penny's bow and basket: V04, V09, E39
The papers are DCWV.
The sticker is Recollections.
The ribbon is scrap pack from Hobby Lobby.
Penny's wing and horns have smooch glitz on them.

The rules for this week are a bit different too.
To be in with a chance to win this challenge, you will need to do the blog hop as well. A bit of extra work, but well worth it for the fantastic prize.
Start the hop HERE, jump from blog to blog. On each blog you will find a code. Collect the "Code letters" from each blog to get the "Code word". Leave a comment on each blog with the letters you have collected. Once you have completed the hop, got the full code word, get crafty. Make any project you want and blog as usual.
Just remember not only to link to our challenge blog, but also add the code word very clearly in your blog post. Link up as usual and sit back and hope your the lucky winner.

Because we've changed the rules we've also changed the prize!
The prize for this blog hop, is to co-design & Name your very own exclucive digi stamp. You get to chose the theme for stamp, let designer Janette know what you would like, and together you will create a magical stamp. You then get to name it and it wont go on sale for a month after you have recieved it.

Have fun!!!

Happy Valentines Day!

I just barely made it! I know Valentines is just about over but I wanted to share this card that I was barely able to squeeze in today. Although I'll probably do some more for next year since everything is still out. :)

For this I used:
The image and sentiment are from Tiddly Inks, it's very cute in that it comes with the picture all together and then with the border and Wryn separate. So I used them separate and layered Wryn on top with foam tape.
She is colored with Copics:
Hearts: R14, R29, R39, N0
Hair: E25, E33, E39, E79; Clip: RV06
Dress/Shoes: V04, V09, V25; Sleeves: RV02, RV06, RV09
Skin: E00, E21, YR000, YR00
Paint Brush: E33, Y28, Y38
The background is inked with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.
The patterned layers behind her are from a Valentines K&Company stack.

I'm entering this in:
Tiddly Inks - Love is in the Air
A Gem of a Challenge - Hearts/Valentine
Craft Your Passion - Be My Valentine

Thanks!!

Would You Ever Guess Wednesday - My Cricut Craft Room

Today at My Cricut Craft Room is Would You Ever Guess Wednesday and the theme was to use 3+ tags. I thought quite a bit on how to do this because I wasn't sure I wanted the base to be a tag but how would you use that many tags if one isn't the base. In retrospect I think it would be pretty cool to do a banner out of tags.
But anyway, here is my project and yes I did use a tag as the base, lol.

For this I used:

My Cricut cuts on this are a bit obscure. My usable outlets were on a breaker that broke and is being fixed tomorrow. So, I fished through my scraps box and found some of the throw away pieces from other cuts. So the pink scalloped border is from the inside of the border layer for on top of a pillow box from the Something to Celebrate cart. The hearts I dissected from lines of hearts I've cut for teapot invitations, from the Once Upon a Princess cart.
If you want to see their other components, here are the links where the pieces were used:
The distress inks are Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberry.
The patterned papers are both from a Christmas K&Company stack.
The sentiment is from a tags set from Pink By Design inked with Memento Teal Zeal.
The ribbon is 3 Girl Jam.

Now head over to My Cricut Craft Room and see what my DT Sisters have been up too!!

Thanks!

Spring has Sprung!

I had a realization yesterday, I haven't done a project just for me in a while. I love doing my DT posts, the hops I've joined, and the orders for my etsy store and locally, but I haven't sat down and crafted just for the fun of it. Now I realize that all my obligations are something I choose to do, and I wouldn't change that, but they are all topics and themes that someone else picked, so I think my Chinese New Year Resolution :) is to just craft for me occasionally.

The past week or so has been bright and sunny and warm here (not including this morning, it's cold and raining) and seeing all the green start to come back a little made me wish for Spring, so I made a cute little springy card.

I know you can't tell, but it's an easel card with dimensions of 4.5x12 with folds on 4.5, 9, 10.5, 11.25.
The base paper is from Hobby Lobby, the iridescent yellow is DCWV from the lemon stack.
The image is from The Paper Shelter called Spring Breeze.
She is colored with Copics.
The punch is EK Success.
The stamp is from My Craft Spot, inked with Memento Rose Bud.
The Distress Ink is Picked Raspberry.
The flowers were originally white, colored with Copics, and from I Am Roses.

I'm entering this in:
The Paper Shelter - Alter Something/Lots of Folds

Festive Friday - My Cricut Craft Room

Today at My Cricut Craft Room it's Festive Friday! The theme today is festive projects for boys, because today is National Boy Scout Day.

For my project I chose to take it a bit literally and made a boy scout themed project.
Specifically a congrats Eagle Scout card.

I found the most perfect cart to use, it's Campin' Critters. I picked it up a while back when it was on sale and realized it was probably a mistake because I don't camp, lol, but for this it was perfect!!

For the sash on the eagle I used buttons instead of cutting several pieces of different colors.
Here's a picture of the handbook showing what you should cut.

Really I only skipped cutting it twice more, but those little pieces it cuts out get everywhere, plus I liked using the buttons. I actually picked the size to cut the eagle at by how big the sash had to be for the buttons!

For this project I used:

The eagle is from Campin' Critters cut at 4".
The card base and border are from Art Philosophy cut at 5.25" and 5" respectively.
The banner at the bottom is from Artiste cut at .75".
The papers are all recollections except for the sash which is DCWV.
The sentiment is from the Artiste CTMH collection.
The ink is CTMH cocoa.
The buttons are Favorite Findings from JoAnn.
Adhesives are Glossy Accents and 1/8" foam tape under the eagle and banner.

Now head on over to My Cricut Craft Room and see what my DT Sisters have been up to!

Theme Day Thursday - My Cricut Craft Room

Today at My Cricut Craft Room is Theme Day Thursday and the theme is Bling!!

Now for me, I take bling to mean lots and lots of glitter!!

So for this project I wanted to try a new technique that I saw on pinterest several times. I took pieces of chipboard and glittered them with loose glitter then added dimensional glaze on top.
All the tutorials I saw said to use Judikins Diamond Glaze. Now I've never even heard of this stuff before so it took me a few stores to track it down, but eventually I found it.
I used it on several glittered chipboard pieces. Well, it was a mess, that's why there aren't any pictures. My fingers still have the stuff all over them, especially my nails, my very pretty, very created in a salon nails. I have never had to file anything off of them before, it hasn't mattered how 'permanent' something is, it always just chips off. Not this stuff.
So this mess was because the liquid rolled off the chipboard, literally. After several tries I ended up just smothering the letters in it.
So while this was taking eons to dry I was thinking, 1st that everyone on pinterest lied to me, and 2nd there has got to be a better way of doing this.
**Side note, I'm sure I really was doing something wrong, or maybe my bottle is past it's used by date, I don't know, but it was weirdly unlike any picture I saw of the process online.**
So my better way was, 1st smacking myself in the forehead because, 2nd I don't know why it didn't occur to me to just use my very favorite adhesive, Glossy Accents.
So I did one more chipboard piece using the Glossy Accents, no spills over the side.
Also, the glossy accents one finished drying about the same time the one I used the diamond glaze on did.
This all being said, the one (oh and by one, I mean the only one that survived the flood of diamond glaze) with the diamond glaze looks a little clearer than the glossy accents. Other than the clarity the texture and finish is about the same. I wonder if you can tell which I used on which letter.
**Side note, really for use with either of these, in this type of capacity, I would recommend putting down an ink mat, or if you don't have one wax or parchment paper before using.

Now for a quick aside about the project itself.
A few of my girl friends and I get together to play cards. Not poker, none of us can bluff when there are stakes involved, even if their pretend. So we play a more childish bluffing card game, B.S. or Cheat as some people know it. Now for us, we call it Bacon Sandwich. One of my friends heard it called that on some movie or tv show and we all thought it was funny enough that it stuck. What's harder for you to keep your composer around, someone yelling B.S. at you or someone yelling Bacon Sandwich at you.
Anyway, I thought we could use some type of trophy for winning that time.
What's more perfect for a bunch of girls than glitter?!

It's hard to see with the light so here's a close up of the bottom, fully it reads BS Queen.

The green background and blue crown - Rock Princess Cartridge cut at 2.5 - are behind the glass.
The picture frame is from Target, their brand.
The chipboard and paper are from Hobby Lobby, their brand.
The glitter is Recollections with Judikins Diamond Glaze and Ranger Glossy Accents on them.
Queen is written in just a silver Sharpie on top of the glass.
The pearls are from a store on Etsy called SammyBoutique.

Now, be sure to head on over to My Cricut Craft Room and see what my DT Sisters have been up to!!

Thanks!!

100 Cart Blog Hop - My Cricut Craft Room

A Gift for My Sweetheart Hop
Let it Snow Blog Hop

Welcome to Erica's Craft Room
100 Cricut Cartridge Blog Hop

You should have started at http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com/ if not please start at the beginning

Each month the Design Team makes projects that showcase 100 Cricut cartridges. We hope to inspire you to pull out a cart you may not have fully explored or entice you to perhaps add to your library!

You should have come here from Erica's Project Blog.

My Projects for this month!!!

For this I used the Summer in Paris cart. This is a new cart I just got, so this was fun to make, especially since that lovely little painting (from Paris) hangs above my crafting desk!

For this I used the Artiste and Nifty Fifties carts.
The envelope and card are from Artiste - the card paper is from the new DCWV birthdays stack!
My mat is getting a little un-sticky so for the laces on the skates I just used a white Gelly Roll.
This is in the workings for a Birthday invite!

For this I used the 3 Birds on Parade cart.
The phrase is from that cart as well!
For the whites and yellows I used Scribblers paints!

This if from a new cart (for me) also, the Carousel Lite cart!!
I LOVE IT!
I cut the background twice and then just barely glued the edges to use it as an envelope for the ticket!
TOO CUTE!

These were a lot more fun a few hours ago...
My cat knocked them on the floor (because she is only allowed to play with paper that's on the floor) and chewed the Red, Pink, Lime Green, and Light Pink ones to shreds...
I was sad enough I haven't felt like putting the time into replacing them yet.
Anyway, I love this invitation.
The shapes and phrase are from Once Upon a Princess 3.75 for the tea pot and 2 for the phrase.
The middle layer is cut twice and then I hinge them together so that they lift up and you can put the party information on the inside!

Ahh! So if you were counting that's 6 carts!

Your next stop is Erica's Blog Candy!

And in case your lost, heres the entire line up!!

Have a blast!!
Sarah Mae
